Mosel Wine Merchant (MWM) is an exporter based in Trier, Germany. Our portfolio includes artisanal domaines whose wines reflect their terroir.

Sans work papers, money, and outlook, Lars Carlberg was occupied with Knebel's 2005 harvest when entrepreneur Alexander Rinke approached him with the proposal to export wines from the Mosel Valley to the United States. Together they founded MWM, and, with the help of Knebel winemaker Gernot Kollmann, made contact with various growers to represent as their clients.

MWM's first shipment reached the shores of New York in April 2007. The next several months resulted in placements in Manhattan's top locales and wine shops, followed by additional contacts with distributors in Texas and Colorado.

In September 2007, MWM held a special Mosel Riesling tasting at Mark Williamson's Macéo, astounding both the critics and the Parisian wine trade alike.

With the advent of spring 2008, MWM's breakthrough partnership with Polaner Selections facilitates the distribution of our selections to New York and New Jersey, and less than a year later Triage Wines has decided to distribute MWM in the Pacific Northwest.

Lars works out of his rooftop flat in Trier. If he's caught with a glass of red wine, it's most likely from the Rhône Valley.
